WhaleVibe – Quantitative Framework for Systematic SPY Trading
WhaleVibe combines our proprietary quantitative model, cross-market data from 10 assets, and a deterministic rotational engine with 26 years of history for systematic SPY ETF trading.
What is WhaleVibe?
WhaleVibe is a fully autonomous quantitative framework built around the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY). At the core of the system is our proprietary deterministic model, which analyzes institutional liquidity flows, sector rotation, credit spreads, and the term structure of volatility in real time across 10 key instruments.
This model underwent extensive independent testing and benchmarking, enabling the transition to a fully autonomous, deterministic 26-year model with expanded feature engineering (168 dimensions). All external data dependencies were replaced by our own internal computation.
The system generates unambiguous long/short trading signals with dynamic capital allocation and immediate position rotation. In the production SmartWhales Alpha mode, it allocates 100% of capital to a single optimal active position, eliminating counter-trend holding. For prop trading challenges (Fintokei), it utilizes the protective Prop Shield mode (50% allocation). The entire model is backed by an uncompromising 26-year audit (2000–2026, 6,695 trading days) with strict separation of In-Sample and Out-of-Sample periods.

🔴 Who trading WhaleVibe is NOT For
Before you sign up, read this. WhaleVibe is a specific tool for a specific group of traders. If you're looking for any of the following, we are NOT for you:
We don't guarantee profits. Past results ≠ future returns. Every strategy can have drawdowns and losing periods.
Requires active monitoring, understanding of risks, and manual intervention in extreme situations.
WhaleVibe is a tool for systematic traders. If you don't understand SPY, trends, drawdowns - start elsewhere.
Strategies are swing/position trading (days to weeks). Not for intraday traders.
We do not use generative AI or opaque neural networks prone to hallucinations. We use exact mathematical feature engineering (168 dimensions), custom regime filters, and a deterministic XGBoost inference model with fixed rules and stop-losses.
✅ WhaleVibe IS for:
- Systematic traders who want automation of proven strategies
- Asset managers who need transparent statistics
- Developers/fintech firms looking for white-label signal server
- People who tolerate drawdowns and understand market risk
📊 SPY Production Strategies (Proprietary Model Audit 2000–2026)
Status: ✅ Production Operation (In-Sample & Out-of-Sample audit)
Frequency: 3+2 Model (Morning execution 09:50 NY, Pre-Close computation 15:40 NY, Evening execution 16:20 NY)
Data Coverage: 26+ years (2000–2026, 6,695 trading days, 5 market crises)
Two Distinct Capital Management Profiles:
- SmartWhales Alpha (100% Rotational): Combination of
S18 + S12 + S17(morning) andS231 + S121(evening) → 100% allocation on 1 active position with immediate rotation → 26-year cumulative portfolio return +1,245.9% (+10.26% p.a.) and +36.7% (+9.01% p.a.) for 2023–2026 with low Max Drawdown (-14.88%). - Fintokei Prop Shield (50% Sizing): Combination of
S18 + S12 + S14(morning) andS231 + S121(evening) → 50% allocation for strict account safety in prop firm challenges → historical max portfolio drawdown only -7.87%.
🐳 WhalePlus – CFD Variant (Higher Risk/Reward)
WhalePlus is an alternative implementation of WhaleVibe strategies using leveraged products (CFDs). Same signals, different asset and leverage:
| WhaleVibe (SPY) | WhalePlus (CFD) | |
|---|---|---|
| Asset | S&P 500 ETF (SPY) | SPY CFD with leverage |
| Leverage | 1:1 (no leverage) | 2:1 – 5:1 |
| Backtest (26+ yrs) | 3+2 Model (2000–2026) | N/A (live only) |
| Live Return (2024-2026) | +35.57% (see client interface) | 100%+ p.a. on MQL5 |
| Max Drawdown | -3.7% to -15.0% (per strategy) | -43.7% |
| Target Audience | Retail / Conservative | Professionals / Risk-tolerant |
Important Note: WhalePlus uses the same strategies as WhaleVibe, but with a leveraged product (CFD) for greater exposure. Higher CAGR means higher drawdown. It's not a different backtested system, but a different implementation of the same framework.
⚠️ Disclaimer: These are backtest results for SPY strategies (2000–2026). For live performance, see MQL5 Smartwhales (65+ weeks, 100%+ p.a. on leveraged CFD). WhalePlus achieves higher CAGR but shows significantly higher drawdown (-43.7%) due to leverage. This is an aggressive implementation of the same framework, while pure SPY strategies maintain defined risk with much lower drawdowns. Past performance is not a guarantee of future results.
🐳 WhaleVibe Combined (SW + SVE) – Maximum Stability
This strategy combines two complementary approaches to systematic SPY trading to achieve high stability and robust capital growth across economic cycles. Capital is split 50/50 between the equity and options components (18-year audit 2008–2025).
Portfolio Composition:
- SmartWhales SPY (Equity Component): 100% Alpha Rotational model on SPY (3 morning + 2 evening strategies) with immediate position rotation and proprietary macro-regime filtering (26-year dataset 2000–2026, 168 dimensions).
- WhaleVibe SVE v3.8 (Options Component): Systematic credit Bull Put Spread selling on SPY with regime detection (VIX, sentiment number/trend/velocity), 20 dynamic slots, strict Stop Loss, and Profit Target (18-year tick options archive 2008–2025, 24.6 million records).
Key Performance Metrics (2008–2025 / 18 Years)
| Metric | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| CAGR | +24.86 % | Compound Annual Growth Rate across the entire combined portfolio |
| Max Drawdown | -10.94 % | Maximum historical portfolio drawdown (through both 2008 crisis & 2020 COVID crash) |
| Calmar Ratio | 2.27 | Risk-adjusted return (CAGR / MaxDD) |
| Activity | ~460 trades / year | Consolidated trading activity of both components |
| Profitable Years | 17 of 18 (94.4 %) | Only 1 year with minor pullback (-1.67% in 2014) |
| Total Capital Growth | 53.4x (+5,238 %) | Total capital growth over 18 years |
1. Cumulative Equity Curve (Log Scale, 2008–2025)
The cumulative equity chart is presented on a logarithmic scale (Log Scale), providing clear visual comparison across both components despite differing asset mechanics:
- SmartWhales (ETF): Operates as a 1.0x unleveraged cash spot allocation (safe holding of SPY shares, zero margin call risk). Grew from 1.0x to 6.83x over 18 years (+583% / ~10.3% p.a.).
- WhaleVibe SVE (Options): Leverages option time decay (Theta) distributed across 20 dynamic slots. In 2008–2009 (with VIX reaching up to 80), written spreads collected extreme option premiums (+96.4% in 2008 and +199.7% in 2009), multiplying the base from 1.0x to 5.9x in 2 years and compounding to 352.0x overall.
- Combined 50/50 Portfolio: Marries equity trend stability with high option cash-flow, delivering a total growth of 53.4x (+5,238% total / +24.86% p.a.) with a maximum drawdown of only -10.94%.
2. Annual Performance, Drawdown, and Trade Count (2008–2025)
Detailed performance breakdown of the combined portfolio over the full 18-year period (2008–2025) highlighting 3 key dimensions:
- Annual Profitability (Profit %): 17 profitable years out of 18 (94.4% positive year rate). Returns range from steady +3.8% up to +199.7% during peak market volatility.
- Maximum Annual Drawdown (Max DD %): Strictly controlled risk – even during severe market stress (2008: -6.9%, 2020: -9.6%), drawdown never exceeded -11% (the lowest annual drawdown was just -1.9%).
- Activity & Trade Count: Highly consistent execution frequency averaging ~460 trades per year (ranging between 384 and 497 trades/year).
🧪 FX Research Strategies (3 total: EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCZK)

⚙️ Infrastructure: Trigger Engine v1.1
Native GitHub Actions schedule: cron triggers on public runners suffered delays of
15–45 minutes, jeopardising the integrity of signals tied to precise market windows
(US market open and close). The problem was solved with a custom deterministic Trigger Engine.
Architecture (three layers)
🕐 Scheduler
systemd.timer – second-precision scheduling. Two timer sets (SUMMER / WINTER) handle US market DST transitions. Switching is done via systemctl enable/disable.
🔧 Executor
systemd.service – isolated script execution in a separate process, logging to the systemd journal, automatic restart on failure.
🐍 Trigger
trigger.py (Python + Requests) – calls the GitHub REST API to fire .yml action files. PAT token is stored securely.
Result
- ⏱️ Scheduling accuracy: from ±45 minutes to < 1 second
- 🖥️ Server:
app.smartwhales.cz(OCI, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) - 📦 Deployment:
setup_oci.sh– directory structure, Python venv, systemd registration - 🟡 FX pipeline timers: prepared in code, will be activated when FX production launches (Q3 2026)
